The incident took place in Brookfield on Friday, March 8 after the Brookfield Police were notified by local media of a bomb threat at several buildings in town and employee homes, according to the Brookfield Police.

In response, all Brookfield Public Schools and the Brookfield Town Hall were closed for the day for police to investigate the threat, the police department said.

"Our team is currently conducting sweeps of all schools and the town hall to ensure the safety of everyone, the department said. "Please avoid all public schools and the town hall until further notice."

The school district, which originally went on a two-hour delay, said in a message to parents that after further consultation with the police department and town officials, it is clear that more time is needed to conduct a thorough sweep of all the schools and town hall.

"Therefore, out of an abundance of caution, the Brookfield Public Schools and Town Hall are closed today, March 8, 2024," the statement said.

Efforts to reach Brookfield Police were unsuccessful.
